Want to hibernate? This Bear Sleeping Bag is our new favourite fashion accessory

The sleet and bitterly cold easterly winds are on their way in the UK according to the forecast this weekend.

But if, like us, you already want to bury yourself beneath a comfy duvet and hibernate even though winter’s only just begun, artist Eiko Ishizawa has a novel solution.

In a stroke of brilliance, Ishizawa has created a giant sleeping bag dubbed the "Great Sleeping Bear."

The bear-shaped creation comes in at six feet, three inches long and was originally created by the artist from Amsterdam as a sculpture in 2007, inspired by news of a bear that escaped from the Italian side of the Alps to the Bavarian side in 2006.

“He evoked huge discussion among people and government whether they should kill or leave him alive,'”  Ishizawa said. “In the end, he was hunted down. I was interested in the tragic story of the bear.”

He went onto create a batch of just seven bespoke sleeping bags, priced at a whopping £1,500 each. Interest in the sleeping bags has recently had a resurgence after the images started doing the rounds on social media.

In other words, if you've ever wondered what it might be like to be a bear, now you actually can be one.

As long as you've got a mammoth budget of course...
