First look at George Clooney in Downton Abbey Christmas special

For months we've been imagining what George Clooney will look like amongst the Crawleys after it was announced that he will be making a guest appearance in the Downton Abbey Christmas special. And now the wait is over.

A newly released short clip features the A-lister's character to be stopping by to visit the family. The video doesn’t reveal who Clooney will be playing or why he’s there, but Cora appears to mistake his character for Lord Grantham.

Last month, Elizabeth McGovern who plays Cora, Countess of Grantham, revealed that she had the job of locking lips with the Hollywood star in the upcoming episode.

“It was special for me because there was a scripted kiss,” McGovern told The Daily Beast. “I have not been quite the same ever since. He’s truly as charming as you’d hope him to be, and smart, and has his heart in the right place.”

The clip was released as part of a campaign to promote ITV’s Christmas charity initiative. The episode will air on ITV at 9pm on Christmas Day.
