Watch the women of 'Friends' reunite on the famous set

Fans of Friends are you ready for this? It’s been 10 years since the finale of the hit TV show and we've been watching reruns ever since, but there's finally been a reunion.

Comedian Jimmy Kimmel managed to bring together the lead female stars of the show - Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow - last night in an exact replica of Monica’s kitchen for a hilarious skit on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

It begins with Kimmel asking Jennifer Aniston (who played Rachel Green) to perform some Friends fan-fiction and revealing a set that impeccably replicates Monica's apartment from the signature gold door frame to the notes on the fridge.

Midway through the sketch, Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow enter to play their respective characters Monica Geller and Phoebe Buffay.

As the cast reluctantly acted out Kimmel's comedic script, the host poked fun at the American sitcom asking if his skit was "dummer than living in a huge apartment in New York city for eight years even though you work at a coffee shop?"

Unfortunately the men of the show (Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer) didn't make an appearance in the skit. In April, Courteney Cox revealed she had been trying to organise a reunion dinner with all six stars of the show with no luck and dismissed any hopes of the group making a comeback for the milestone anniversary.

"Let me tell you something, there are six 'Friends' and I've been trying to put together a cast dinner for ten years. It doesn't happen," said Cox.

"I mean, I can get the girls to come, maybe Matthew Perry... Matt LeBlanc cancelled last time right at the last minute, [David] Schwimmer lives here. So it's not going to happen."

This might be the closest thing we'll get to a reunion.

In other Friends news, a replica of the Central Perk coffee shop is to open in Manhattan next month.

Entertainment Weekly reported that Warner Bros. Television Group, Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Eight O’Clock Coffee are partnering to re-create the famous coffeehouse at a pop-up location in downtown Manhattan (199 Lafayette Street) from 17 September to 18 October.

Visitors will be offered free coffee and be able to take photos on the orange couch from the show, along with a myriad of signature props and a show-themed backdrop.

There will be weekly performances of Phoebe’s Smelly Cat along with special select appearances of barista Gunther, played by James Michael Tyler.
