Adele will perform Skyfall live in public for the first time at next month's Oscars ceremony, the Academy announced today.

The James Bond theme song, which she co-wrote with Paul Epworth, has received an Oscar nod for Best Original Song - the first 007 tune to receive the honour since For Your Eyes Only in 1981 - and it won a Golden Globe gong earlier this month.

"It's an honour to be nominated and terrifyingly wonderful to be singing in front of people who have captured my imagination over and over again,” the singer-songwriter said. “It's something I've never experienced and probably only ever will once!"

"Best 4 Words Ever: Adele Performing At #Oscars," the Academy tweeted.

The 24-year-old, who is engaged to Simon Konecki, gave birth to a baby boy in October and while she has yet to reveal her child's name, The Sun speculated yesterday that she may have named him Angelo, after she was spotted wearing a necklace spelling out the name.

She will perform in front of a star-studded audience at at the Academy Awards' 85th ceremony on Sunday 24 February.
