Amber Tamblyn’s baby name announcement is genius


Amber Tamblyn – she of Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants fame – and her husband, David Cross, are both famed for their kooky sense of humour. So, when it came to announcing the birth of their first baby together, the pair decided to add a comedic twist to proceedings.

Taking to Instagram to share a video of her newborn daughter’s kicking feet, Tamblyn wrote: “David and I are proud to announced the birth of our daughter.”

So far, so usual.

However, when it came to revealing the name of their little bundle of joy, the 33-year-old decided to have a little fun at our expense.

“[Her name is] Dauphinoise Petunia Brittany Scheherazade Von Funkinstein Mustard Witch RBG Cross Tamblyn-Bey Jr,” she wrote.

#TheFutureIsFemale,” she added.

Touché, Tamblyn. Touché… although, to be fair, we’re quite fond of Mustard Witch.

Tablyn first revealed that she was expecting a child in an op-ed piece she wrote for Glamour magazine.

After bravely penning a letter about an encounter with an abusive ex-boyfriend in response to Donald Trump’s infamous and awful comments about sexually assaulting women, the actor wrote: “I’ve been thinking about motherhood a lot lately. What it means to be one, what it means to have one, what it means to know one, what it means to make decisions as one and have conversations as one. 

“Motherhood has been heavily on my mind because I am going to be a mother soon. I’m pregnant, with a daughter on the way.”

Tamblyn said she has some concerns about the world her daughter would face, writing: “I think constantly about the world I am bringing her into. How much do I have to do, as a daughter and a soon-to-be mother, to change not just the conversation about how women are seen, but the language with which conversations are spoken in?”

Thankfully, Tamblyn has a group of strong and empowered women to help her make the world a better place for her daughter; she is still best friends with co-stars Blake Lively, America Ferrera and Alexis Bledel – all of whom are well-known for speaking out about women’s rights.

In fact, Lively made all of her fellow Sisterhood stars godmothers to her own daughter, James – and they’ve all made sure to be present for one another at major life events.

Speaking about their close bond in 2013, Ferrera told EW that being co-stars was really just the beginning of a really meaningful friendship.

“We’ve been part of each other’s lives in really meaningful ways that go beyond making  a movie together,” she said. “We almost forget that we made a movie together because our friendship was created from so many other experiences.”
