A Hollywood film of Amy Winehouse's life is in the works, with Swedish The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo star Noomi Rapace reportedly in talks to play the singer.

The news comes just months after the release of Asif Kapadia's critically-acclaimed Winehouse documentary Amy, which pieced together the singer's life using archival documentary footage and personal home videos.

Oscar-nominated Irish director Kirsten Sheridan will direct the flick - tentatively titled Amy Winehouse - and has also written the script, Variety reports.

“Amy’s music is felt so deeply by the audience because it was deeply personal,” says Kirsten. “Her vulnerability was her strength. She was called many things - a diva, a lost soul preyed upon by tabloids, a tortured genius.

“Our aim is an innovative, emotional and life-affirming approach as we go through the looking glass into her life and art.”

The Back To Black hitmaker died of alcohol poisoning in her Camden home in July 2011, aged 27.

Noomi, 35, has also starred in Prometheus and is currently filming sci-fi thriller What Happened To Monday?
