When the news broke that Sofia Coppola was set to direct a version of The Little Mermaid, we already knew that it was going to be alternative, ridiculously cool and incredibly stylish.
So it's not surprising that the Virgin Suicides director has decided to cast model Andrej Pejic for one of the roles.
According to IMDB the model, known for her androgynous looks, is rumoured to be playing sister #4.
This won't be the first time the Tuzla-born star has acted. In 2013, she had a part as a man named Radu in a Turkish period drama, Fatih.
And that's not forgetting the time she starred in David Bowie‘s The Stars (Are Out Tonight) music video alongside Tilda Swinton.
Coppola is set to tell a much darker version of the story - much closer to the original by Hans Christian Andersen, rather than the sweet Disney tale.
The original ending saw the mermaid turn to sea foam, but it was amended to have her become a "daughter of the air" for not killing the prince, even though it would save her.
Over time, the true nature of Andersen's tale has been amended and glossed over for a children's audience - but Coppola may well choose to revert to its grittier roots in the upcoming adaptation (especially as it's live action, as opposed to animation).
By doing so, she would adhere to the trend of recent, bleaker fairy tale adaptations such as Snow White and the Huntsman or Maleficent, starring Angelina Jolie.
While we've got a massive wish list of who we'd like to see in the film (hello, Lupita Nyong'o), we're still waiting to see if Emma Watson will confirm the rumours if she's to play Ariel, which we'd love to see, incidentally.
We'll update you with news on Sebastian the crab, Flounder and, of course, Eric as it comes.
