Jon Voight has given a sweet insight into what went on behind the scenes to get his granddaughter, Vivienne Knox, ready for her big screen debut.

Angelina Jolie's father revealed that Vivienne's parents - Brad and Angelina - were tasked with raising a smile out of the little girl and had to run around after the five-year-old to do so.

Speaking to E!, he said:

"Apparently the people at Disney were having a lot of fun because [Brad Pitt] and Angie were running with the camera saying, 'Okay now smile! You're out in the field."

Five-year-old Vivienne plays a young Princess Aurora (she was four at the time of filming), while her mother Angelina plays the title role in the retelling of Sleeping Beauty, which is told from Maleficent's point of view.

Angelina also recently discussed her children joining her on set in an interview with Entertainment Weekly:

“We think it’s fun for our kids to have cameos and join us on set, but not to be actors. That’s not our goal for Brad and I at all.”

“But the other 3- and 4-year-old [performers] wouldn’t come near me. It had to be a child that liked me and wasn’t afraid of my horns and my eyes and my claws. So it had to be Viv.”
