Angelina's villainous new role

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Angelina revealed that her six children and Brad Pitt are particularly thrilled about the horns she has to wear for the part: “I’m having a lot of fun. I’ve already got my horns fitted. My kids are very happy,” she told the magazine. “We’re experimenting with different things. But the horns are the horns – you can’t deny them. You have to have horns.”

Despite her angelic-sounding name, Angelina also confessed that she's relishing the opportunity to play a baddie, and that Maleficent will be an attempt to get under the skin of the token baddie and show there’s more to her than just her villainy: “[Maleficent] is actually a great person. But she’s not perfect. She’s far from perfect,” she explained, adding: “"I hope in the end you see a woman who is capable of being many things, and just because she protects herself and is aggressive, it doesn't mean she can't have other qualities. You have to figure out the puzzle of what she is.”

The film is due to go into production in June with Elle Fanning rumoured to play the innocent beauty Princess Aurora. Maleficient will follow hard on the heels of fairytale remakes such as Mirror Mirror: The Untold Adventures of Snow White starring Julia Roberts and Lily Collins, and Jack The Giant Killer with Ewan McGregor and Nicholas Hoult, out this summer.
