BAFTA nominees announced

Nominations for this year's British Academy of Film and Television Arts were announced early this morning, with actors Dominic Cooper and Talulah Riley reading out the shortlists voted for by the 6300 members of BAFTA.

It's a particularly good year for the British film industry, with The King’s Speech leading the way with 14 nominations, including Leading Actor for Colin Firth, Best Film, Original Screenplay and Best Director for Brit Tom Hooper.

Elsewhere, British director Christopher Nolan’s Inception has several nominations including Best Film, Best Director and Special Visual effects, Danny Boyle’s 127 hours has eight and the late Pete Postlethwaite has been nominated posthumously for Supporting Actor in The Town.

There was good news for smaller British films too, with Made in Dagenham and Mike Leigh’s Another Year garnering several nominations.

It’s not just about the Brits though; as expected, Black Swan has been nominated in 12 categories, including Leading Actress for Natalie Portman and Costume Design. Wild West remake True Grit, The Social Network, The Fighter and The Kids Are All Right are all up for awards too.

Bafta also gave the nod to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, including a surprise nomination in the Leading Actree category for Noomi Rapace.

The awards will take place on Sunday 13 February, and we'll be covering the event here on Stylist.co.uk. For a full list of the nominees visit bafta.org.
