GBBO’s Candice and The Apprentice’s Alana planning new career together

We’d never admit it out loud (well, not unless there was a glass of Prosecco at stake), but we are secretly obsessed with the likes of The Great British Bake Off and The Apprentice.

So, when we heard that the two shows had collided in a mixing bowl of floury sugary goodness, we were incredibly excited. Even more so because it involved #girlpower career women, Candice Brown and Alana Spencer.

As fans of both shows will no doubt be aware, Alana unveiled her Ridiculous Rich by Alana sweet treats range in a bid to get herself hired by Alan Sugar as his next apprentice – and it worked.

Candice, meanwhile, was crowned the winner of GBBO 2016 in an extremely tense finale; she was forced to employ all of her baking skills in a bid to beat Andrew Smyth and Jane Beedle to wow Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry with her customised picnic hamper.

The latter recently announced that she’d quit her job as a PE teacher in a bid to pursue her baking dreams – and Alana has big dreams for her wholesale cake company following Lord Sugar’s £250,000 investment.

So it makes sense that the pair are hoping to team up in the not so distant future…

Speaking to The Sun about a possible collaboration, Alana admitted: “Candice and I have been messaging. I’m hoping we’ll meet soon.

“I’d never say never to working with her.”

The 24-year-old went on to explain that Candice – who came under fire from sexist Twitter trolls over her ‘pout’ – also had some guidance for Alana on how to handle her newfound fame.

“She’s given me some advice and said, ‘Don’t take anything to heart that you see on Twitter’,” said Alana. “She’s really sweet.”

The Welsh businesswoman, who values her “work ethic and business plans” above all else when it comes to forging a successful career, began working when she was still at school, selling homemade chocolate to her teachers before moving into the world of cakes.

She went on to set up her own company – Narnas Cakes - in a small village just outside Aberystwyth back in 2010, when she was just 16-years-old.

The “travelling cake shop” boasts “the yummiest tray bakes” on its website, and has six products for sale.

Their products are peanut butter fudge cake, salted caramel slice, gooey chocolate brownie, crème brûlée brownie, sticky toffee flapjack and rocky road.

While her USP is that all the cakes and recipes have to be personally approved by her, there’s still plenty of scope for a collaboration with Candice; perhaps they could launch their own company together – and film the process for an inspiring new TV show.

Either way, it’s safe to assume that the future is bright and full of cakes; roll on 2017, already.
