What happens when the hilarious Anna Kendrick teams up with ex-Gossip Girl star Blake Lively for an edge-of-your seat domestic thriller?

It seems that we’re about to find out.

According to Deadlineboth actresses are in talks to star in a new flick directed by Paul Feig, the man behind 2011’s comedic highlight Bridesmaids and 2016’s female-led Ghostbusters reboot.

Titled A Simple Favor, the film will be based on Darcey Bell’s debut novel of the same name, which Amazon describes as “a feverish and expertly plotted tale of psychological suspense – a twisting free fall filled with betrayals and reversals, secrets and revelations, love and loyalty, murder and revenge.”

And it’s set to be in the same vein as thrillers such as Girl on the Train and Gone Girl, which frankly, audiences can’t get enough of.

The Pitch Perfect star looks set to take on a more sinister role

Following in the footsteps of those box-office hits, the story centres on the life of a ‘mummy blogger’ in a small suburban town and her best friend who, you guessed it, suddenly vanishes.

When stay-at-home mum and blogger Stephanie meets PR executive Emily, the pair become the best of friends. But things take a dark turn when a simple favour – Stephanie picking up Emily’s son from school – turns into the stuff of nightmares.

It’s not long before Stephanie begins to see that nothing, not friendship, love nor even an ordinary favour, is as simple as it seems.

Blake Lively

Blake Lively's certainly got the experience to play a well-heeled Manhattanite

If that’s got you hooked, it shouldn’t be too long before the film hits the big screen as the yet-to-be-confirmed cast are rumoured to start shooting in August.

We can’t wait.
