Brad, Angelina in White House trip

The White House has seen many glamorous visitors in its time - and its latest guests, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, certainly didn't let the side down.

The A-list power couple popped by the Oval Office earlier this week to discuss humanitarian issues with the president.

Angelina, a Humanitarian Ambassador for the UN, has long been a supporter of the Obama administration although she recently expressed frustration over its progress on certain issues.

"I think there are many, many things I think have gone in a wonderful direction, and there are a few things I am disappointed in, but I don't feel like tonight is the night to clarify," the mum-of-six told The Daily Caller website on the eve of her meeting with Obama in Washington, and as the US braces for this year's presidential race.

"But there are many wonderful things that have moved forward, and of course, some other things that are very frustrating."

A White House spokeswoman confirmed Brad and Angelina's meeting with the president.

"President Obama spoke with Miss Jolie about her work to raise the profile of preventing mass atrocities and combating sexual violence against women," she said.

Angelina later met with CIA Director David Petraeus to discuss issues affecting refugees in Afghanistan.

Brad visited the White House in 2009, and according to a new biography about the Obamas by Jodi Kantor, was in "respectful awe" of the president.

Angelina is busy promoting her directorial debut In the Land of Blood and Honey, set during the Bosnian war.

She told fans in a recent web chat that she had a meltdown while making the movie because of the pressure of bringing such highly-charged true life events to bear on the big screen.

"I had a complete emotional breakdown in the shower and Brad found me crying," the 36-year-old said. "I felt this huge responsibility and I felt very small and, who am I to take this on? I had a complete meltdown."
