Call Cameron Diaz a cynic but she doesn't seem hugely invested in the whole relationships and romance thing.

The 41-year-old actress has been airing her feelings about infidelity as she promotes her new film The Other Woman - based on a cheating man. And she's certainly not pulling any punches.

"Everybody has been cheated on, everyone will be cheated on," the Hollywood star said, in a frank interview with OK! magazine this week. "I can't fix that, I don't know how, I don't have any judgment on anybody, I don't know how to fix the problem."

Cameron Diaz remained friends with Justin Timberlake after the pair split in 2006

"My statement is that I am actually not interested in making movies about men cheating on women; it’s not at all what I am interested in," she added.

"We are human beings,we are complicated - you cannot go through life without tallying up a few scars, you cannot go through life unscathed, it’s just what it is. It’s all meant to happen, take your lessons, figure it out, move on."

Diaz has dated numerous actors in the past, including Vincent D'Onofrio, Matt Dillon and Jared Leto. She was engaged to Justin Timberlake in their three-year relationship to 2006, during which time she sued the National Enquirer over allegations that she had cheated on him with a married man.

Most recently, Diaz dated New York Yankees baseball star Alex Rodriguez. The two split in 2011.

In her interview with OK!, the actress said that friends were more important to her than relationships.

"I exist for all my girlfriends. I am very, very fortunate," she said. "My friends are incredible and I am very lucky to have a lot of really solid, good friends– girlfriends and male friends– who I can just rely on."

Reese Witherspoon, who is a close friend of Cameron's, poses with the star in 2012

"We are tribal, we need our tribe - I have a bunch of little tribes all over the world that I pop to for a little bit of time, and then I move on and that's the great thing about being mobile; a lot of my friends have kids and they are stuck, planted in one place, and I kind of get to pop into all the different little tribes around the world and hang out for a little bit," she added.

Do you agree with Cameron Diaz's view that everyone is likely to cheat? Or do you think it's a little cynical? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter
