Cate Blanchett slams Trump's presidency as “absurd and ridiculous”

Cate Blanchett has used a few choice words to describe her feelings about Donald Trump’s presidency.

The award-winning actress slammed the 45th President of the United States as “absurd and ridiculous" while appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

She aired her views during the show’s ‘Emotional Interview’ game, after being asked to “use too many metaphors” while chatting with the comedian. The actress initially began discussing her Broadway debut in The Present, a Chekhov adaptation she is currently starring in, before descending into a rant.

“I’m on stage at the moment and it’s really great to be doing something about midlife crises, because it’s absurd and ridiculous – almost as absurd and ridiculous as a man who has filed for corporate bankruptcy four times who is running the largest economy in the world,” she said.

“I mean, it’s almost as crazy as that.”

When told to “give bad advice”, the 47-year-old also told the audience to send all their savings to Trump.

Brilliantly, the Australian actress had also started the interview by sitting down opposite Fallon, removing her chewing gum and moulding it into the shape of a penis.

“The phallus seems an appropriate symbol for this country right now. With tiny little balls,” she said.
