Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes choose recycled name for their second daughter

Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling have welcomed a second daughter named Amada Lee.

Mendes, 42, gave birth to the baby in a Santa Monica hospital on 29 April, just two weeks after it was revealed the star was pregnant with her second child with Gosling, 35.

The name is certainly a familiar one, with Amada taking the second name of her big sister, Esmeralda Amada, who was born in September 2014.

Meaning 'beloved' in Spanish, the name Amada is special to Mendes. Not only was it the name of her grandmother, it was also the name of the character she played in 2007 film We Own The Night.

Tragically, Amada's birth came less than two weeks after the death of Mendes' older brother Carlos, who suffered from a long battle with cancer.

Mendes and Gosling were spotted celebrating Mother's Day (which falls on 8 May in America) last weekend with daughter Esmeralda, although Amada was not seen.

This comes as no surprise as the couple are notoriously private and the family are rarely seen together in public.

Gosling did, however, open up about his relationship with Mendes last December in an interview with Canadian Hello! magazine.

Speaking about his wife, who he met when they starred together in 2011 film The Place Beyond The Pines, Gosling said, "I know I''m with the person I'm supposed to be with".

And when asked to describe his perfect woman, he said the only thing he looks for is, "that she’s Eva Mendes. There’s nothing else I’m looking for.”
