Chris O'Dowd joins James Franco and Leighton Meester in broadway debut

Chris O'Dowd made his broadway debut last night in an adaptation of the novella Of Mice and Men.

The original story, written by Nobel Prize-winning author John Steinbeck, was published in 1937 and is recognised as one of America's greatest books to this day.

The story follows two men, George a quick-witted but uneducated man and gentle giant Lennie, who dream of owning their own farm but events conspire against them and they never achieve their goal.

Franco is portraying George, and O'Dowd plays the role of Lennie, while Meester plays the flirty wife of a ranch boss.

Before the curtain went up, Franco shared a few of his behind-the-scenes snaps, including one in which Ryan Gosling told him to break a leg (note: we think he might have created that one himself).

O'Dowd's wife, Dawn O'Porter also tweeted that she was pacing the house in LA, as she couldn't be there on opening night because of work commitments.
