“I'm over it. It's pretty tedious”: Dakota Johnson is sick of Fifty Shades sex scenes

Despite mixed reviews of the first Fifty Shades of Grey film, and the departure of Sam Taylor-Johnson as director, the second (and third) instalment of the series is on its way.

But it seems Dakota Johnson, who plays lead character Anastasia Steele opposite Jamie Dornan’s Christian Grey, is less than pumped for it all.

In an interview with Chrissie Hynde for the new issue of Interview magazine, Johnson, who has been holed up in Vancouver for the past eight weeks filming the second and third films back-to-back, declares that she’s actually ‘over’ all the BDSM action.

She even appears to be bored of writhing around half-naked with Dornan, which is a mind-space that many of The Fall actor’s fans might find it somewhat difficult to imagine.

Fifty Shades of Grey

“We're not having actual sex,” she says. “But I've been simulating sex for seven hours straight right now, and I'm over it.

“It's not… comfortable. It's pretty tedious.”

With Fifty Shades Darker set to hit cinemas in February 2017, and the final chapter, Fifty Shades Freed, slated for February 2018 however,  it appears that Dakota has a lot more Shades action ahead of her. By her own estimate, there's at least another four months of Vancouver-based filming to get through, at least.

So what’s the plan when the adaptation of E.L James’ best-selling series is over?

Aside from far less simulated sex, probably, it seems Johnson - much like the rest of us - doesn’t actually have a fully formed plan of action.

Talking to Hynde about the future, Johnson says: “I still feel like I don't know what I'm doing. Like, I'm unsure of what my life will be like. I mean, I have such an obsession with making movies that I probably will always do that.

“But sometimes my life can feel so suffocating, and then it can feel so massive, like I don't have a handle on it at all, and I don't know where it's going or what I'm going to do.

“Right now, I'm known for making movies. And I wonder if that's it. I don't know. It doesn't feel like it to me.”
