Dawn O’Porter unveils baby son’s incredibly romantic (and meaningful) name

Dawn O’Porter and Chris O’Dowd have become parents for a second time.

The couple – who already share two-year-old son Art – welcomed their second son into the world on 1 July, and O’Porter has now confirmed their happy news on Instagram.

Judging by the photo, it seems as if the newborn takes after his mother – in the fashion stakes, at least: in his social media debut, he’s all dressed up in a seriously kitschy (and stylish) watercolour duckling babygro.

Captioning the photo, O’Porter wrote: “Happy to announce I am the proud owner of this chirpy little chap.”

The critically-acclaimed author went on to confirm that her new baby’s name is Valentine O'Porter, and that he “is so delicious”.

The name Valentine is an incredibly romantic one, thanks to its links to the holiday which celebrates love on 14 February each year.

However it was originally taken from the Roman cognomen Valentinus, which was itself comes from the name Valens, which means strong, vigourous, and healthy” in Latin.

O’Porter made headlines when she announced that she was expecting her second child earlier this year – but mainly because she did so in such an awesome and low-key manner.

After interviewing Sarah Solemani for her podcast, Get It On, the author and television presenter opened up about all the projects she had planned for 2017.

O’Porter then went on to confirm that she had begun working on a brand-new book (a sequel to Goose and Paper Aeroplanes), before casually dropping in her baby announcement.

Almost as an after-thought, O’Porter added: “I’m [also] about to turn 38, and I am pregnant.

“So I’ll be investing in a lot of elasticated trousers and dusting off all my old vintage tents, not unlike a lot of people in January.”
