Ed Sheeran and James Corden go hard on the harmonies in new Carpool Karaoke

Ed Sheeran famously wants to be drunk when he wakes up on the wrong side of the bed, but he seems pretty sober on the right side of James Corden’s car.

The Shape of You singer is the latest star to take part in The Late Late Show’s now iconic Carpool Karaoke segment – and, of course, he’s managed to squeeze his trusty guitar into the car along with him.

In the 43-second teaser, we see Sheeran strum a few familiar chords out as he and Corden attempt an acoustic set together.

Then the pair get down to some serious harmonising as they take on a plethora of the singer’s biggest hits, including Sing and Castle on the Hill.

Check it out:

The Sheeran singalong will be aired Tuesday 6 June, and it’s been suspected that it could be one of the most popular to date: the teaser has only been on YouTube for a couple of hours, but is already number four on YouTube's trending chart and had garnered an impressive 1,438,892 views at the time of writing.

It’s safe to say that people are excited. Very excited.

Sheeran confirmed he would be appearing in the sketch back in January.

Admitting that he was likely to feel uncomfortable performing his own songs with Corden, the 26-year-old told Capital FM: “I know the whole thing is singing to your tune, but I think I’d feel a bit awkward singing to my song.

“I think I’d just want to put on some Biggie... I want to put on something really awkward and dirty, like Biggie’s song, Big Booty Hoes, or something like that… and just hear James Corden sing along to that.”

Sheeran isn’t the only high-profile face to watch out for on next week’s episode: Corden is bringing his chat show to London, where he’ll be joined by the likes of Jennifer Hudson, Nicole Kidman, Harry Styles, David Beckham, Tom Cruise, the Kings of Leon and more.
