Emily Blunt and John Krasinski announce name of “beautiful” second daughter

Emily Blunt and John Krasinski have welcomed their second child, a daughter named Violet.

Krasinski took to Twitter on Independence Day to announce the name of the couple's new baby, writing, "What better way to celebrate the 4th... than to announce our 4th family member!!! 2 weeks ago we met our beautiful daughter Violet."

The floral-themed name was a popular choice in the late Nineties and was also picked by Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck as the name of their second daughter in 2005, when it rocketed to the top of Nameberry's hotness list of popular baby names.

Blunt, 33, and Krisinski, 36, also have a two-year-old daughter with an equally retro name, Hazel.

And retro names are definitely making a comeback in the world of celebrities, with A-listers Eddie Redmayne and Hannah Bagshawe recently opting to call their first daughter Iris May.

British actress Blunt announced her second pregnancy in January ahead of the April release of her latest film, The Huntsman: Winter's War

Speaking to C magazine in March, the actress revealed how different she felt during her second pregnancy compared to her first.

“The first pregnancy is the most self-indulgent thing in the world because you get massages and prenatal yoga and hypnotherapy CDs. During this one I forget that I’m even pregnant. I’m hoisting my two-year-old around!”

Blunt and Krasinski are now planning to relocate to the East Coast of America after selling their impressive six-bedroom Hollywood Hills home to Kendall Jenner for a cool $6.5 million (£4.95 million).

The couple were married in July 2010 at a ceremony in Italy's Lake Como after dating for two years.
