Emma Stone's rousing Baftas speech

Emma Stone had an empowering message to share at this week’s Bafta ceremony in London.

The star, who was awarded Best Actress for her role as Mia Dolan in La La Land, took a less-than-subtle swipe at Donald Trump during her acceptance speech.

Taking to the stage, the 28-year-old referenced the fallout from Trump’s presidency, before urging the audience – and the viewers – to remember the positive power of creativity.

"I don't know if you realise this but right now this country, the United States and the world is going through a bit of a time," she said.

"In a time that's so divisive, I think it's really special that we were all able to come together tonight, thanks to BAFTA, to celebrate the positive gift of creativity, and how it can transcend borders and how it can help people to feel a little less alone."
