Women trained for Libya's frontline

Colonel Gaddafi has been training women to defend his Libyan regime in battle against Nato’s armed forces.

Foreign media were invited to a ‘graduation’ event in Tripoli, where over 500 women and young girls, dressed in military fatigues, brandished weapons and holding framed pictures of their leader, chanting his name and pledging their support.

Gaddafi is already well-known for his raft of female bodyguards. Government spokesman Moussa Ibrahim, said: “Libyan women are now joining the armed forces against Nato. We are training them. Their main role is defending homes. We are going to make sure that every mother – the symbol of love and creation – is a bomb, a killing machine.”
