Gavin and Stacey star Joanna Page reveals serene name for baby boy

It doesn’t matter how long ago it was on our televisions (can you believe the last episode was shown in 2010?), we’d quite happily watch re-runs of Gavin and Stacey every single day of the week.

There’s just something so comforting about the characters – and, while it focused primarily on the unusual love story between Essex lad Gavin Shipman (Matthew Horne) and winsome Welsh lass Stacey West, it packed in plenty of laughs thanks to Smithy (James Corden), Nessa (Ruth Jones), and co.

The last ever episode was particularly poignant, however, as Stacey happily revealed to Gavin that, despite infertility warnings from their doctor, she was pregnant with their first child.

Taking to Twitter to break the news with her fans, she wrote: “Our beautiful baby boy Noah Wilder Russell was born Tues the 13th at 8:51am, weighing seven pounds three.

“Welcome to our gang Noah! We love you xxx.”

The name Noah, which means “to rest”, is becoming an increasingly popular choice for 21st century parents.

Wilder, however, is slightly more unusual – and this is most likely due to the fact it originated as a surname. It has no particular meaning ascribed to it, although many have interpreted it as term for a ranger, or to wander.

Russell, meanwhile, simply means “fox-coloured”.

Page previously said that she would love a big family, telling Wales Online: “James is one of four, so to him, four children is the norm.

“For me, one if the norm, but I can see how people get addicted to having babies.

“I would like to keep going and try to pop out as many as possible – I only wish I'd started having them younger.”
