If you, like us, have overdone it on the old chocolate coins this Christmas - not to mention copious amounts of fine cheese and wines - then take heed from a Hollywood expert...

Oscar-winner Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed her tips for the perfect detox diet on her lifestyle website goop.

Though it's unlikely the mum-of-two has over-indulged as much as we have over the festive season, fans of her expertly-honed red carpet figure will be eager to find out more...

Gwyneth, 39, explains that the plan, called "Clean," was devised with the help of Dr. Alejandro Junger.

"I’ve used Clean in the past with great results, losing a few pounds and kickstarting a healthier and more energetic New Year," she tells her followers. "This month, I’ll be doing it along with members of the goop team and we hope you will too."

Comprising of protein shakes and light vegetable meals, the 21-day programme is not for the faint-hearted. At £274 for the powders, supplements, a manual and recipe guide, it also doesn't come cheap.

However, the regime promises to help get you into shape, improve mood levels and aid digestion by eliminating toxins.

Recommended recipes include wild salmon collard wraps, pumpkin coconut stew and roasted acorn squash with wild rice - along with the habitual shakes.

Still, for a healthy glow like Gwyneth's, it might almost be worth the pain...
