Grace Kelly: in her own words

As Alfred Hitchcock's ultimate blonde, Grace Kelly was renowned for beauty and starring in Dial M for Murder, To Catch A Thief and Rear Window.

The actress was born in 1929 and began her career in Hollywood in 1950 when she was just 20, quitting the business after six years when she married Prince Rainier of Monaco.

Despite her short time on the silver screen, not only did she star in some of Hitchcock's most iconic movies, she was nominated twice for an Oscar, one of which she won for her role in The Country Girl.

At the end of 1955, Kelly got engaged to Prince Rainier III, whom she had met while she was in Cannes the previous April. Upon hearing about her engagement, Hitchcock quipped that he was "very happy that Grace has found herself such a good part".

She married the Prince in 1956 and became the Princess of Monaco.

In the lead up and during the ceremony, which took place in Monaco, there was massive media attention, with many calling it the wedding of the century. Kelly's iconic wedding dress was designed by MGM's Academy Award–winning Helen Rose, and was worked on for six weeks by three dozen seamstresses.

Kelly had three children with the Prince and in 1982 she died in a car crash, aged 52, after she had a stroke while driving.

Now as Grace of Monaco is about to hit the big screen, with Nicole Kidman taking on the title role, we take a look at the stunning beauty's classic quotes along with some of her most iconic images.
