From Lady Gaga's Bowie tribute to Adele's mishap, watch the most talked-about moments from the Grammys 2016

The Grammys is the biggest night in the music calendar and pretty much guaranteed to come with a fair dose of controversy. This year didn’t disappoint so we’ve rounded up the most talked-about moments from this year's ceremony.

1. Marvelling at Lady Gaga’s tribute to David Bowie

A champion of the outrageous herself, Lady Gaga paid tribute to the late David Bowie with a robotic keyboard and a series of crazy costumes and Bowie-esque holograms.

2. Watching Adele power through technical difficulties

Adele did a stellar job of battling through sound problems during her rendition of All I Ask. Just before her performance, the piano mic fell into the piano and could be heard bouncing against the piano hammers. The singer made the best of things, tweeting later “shit happens”, before saying she was going to treat herself to an In ‘n’ Out burger. “So maybe it was worth it,” she added.

A slew of people on Twitter started joking about the sound guy losing his job over the incident.

3. Saluting Taylor Swift’s Kanye putdown

Taylor Swift’s responded to Kanye West’s recent lyric (you know the one where he said "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/Why? I made [her] famous") in her Album of the Year acceptance speech, without even mentioning his name.

“There are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame, but if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get where you are going, you’ll look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you who put you there and that will be the greatest feeling in the world."

4. Being blown away by Joey Alexander, the 12-year-old jazz prodigy

Joey Alexander might not be a household name, but that’s all about to change following his performance last night. One of the youngest ever Grammy nominees, the 12-year-old almost put John Legend’s piano-playing skills to shame.

5. Digging into the Grammys goodie bag with Justin Bieber and James Corden

These two just love sharing a ride together. Justin Bieber and James Corden resurrected their Carpool Karaoke for the third time in a post-Grammys special. The drive included a duet of Uptown Funk, before they peeked inside their Grammys goody bags.

6. Celebrating Ed Sheeran's first Grammy win

You’d be forgiven for thinking that Ed Sheeran had already won a Grammy, what with all the other gongs that must be in his cabinet at home, but last night was the first time he’d stepped up to the Grammy podium as a winner.

The singer was typically understated with his acceptance speech, thanking his mum and dad. “My parents have flown out to the Grammys for the last four years and every year they say, 'Maybe next year'!,” he said, beaming.

7. Seeing the biggest winner of the night, Kendrick Lamar

Despite not taking home any of the big awards of the night, Kendrick Lamar was the biggest winner, clocking up five trophies. His performance of The Blacker The Berry also completely stole the show.

8. Making the most of Beyoncé's very small part

Fresh from last week’s Super Bowl, Beyoncé took a night off from performing but don’t think she made any less of an impact. Queen Bey appeared looking all angelic in a lace Inbal Dror gown as she presented the award for Record of the Year to Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson for Uptown Funk.

9. Watching Johnny Depp channel his inner rock star

Johnny Depp, Alice Cooper and Aerosmith’s Joe Perry teamed up to pay tribute to Motörhead's Lemmy with a rocking, fire-exploding performance. They called themselves The Hollywood Vampires and left us wondering if this was the birth of a new rock supergroup.
