Gwen Stefani on overcoming her divorce from Gavin Rossdale: “My life blew up in my face”

rexfeatures_4775440u.jpg

It's safe to say Gwen Stefani is a powerhouse.

Not only has she released an amazing new single and written a new album (in just eight weeks), she's also a judge on the US version of The Voice and managed to remain the coolest dressed mum we've ever laid eyes on. All whilst coming to terms with how she feels following her divorce from Gavin Rossdale

As soon as her emotionally raw track 'Used to Love You' came out, everyone speculated whether it was about the end of her 13 year marriage. Now the songstress has opened up about it all.

"What I will tell you is, I was married for a long time and now I'm not," she said in an interview with Ryan Seacrest yesterday. "It's a shock."

In an interview on the US AMP Radio earlier this week she said:

“My life basically blew up in my face and so I’m in this new life and it’s pretty awesome, I have to say,” Stefani explained. “Everything just feels new. I just feel inspired. I don’t know how else to describe it.”

But although she's clearly doing great, it wasn't an easy journey to that place.

“I don’t have anything to hide. Everybody knows that I was married forever and now I’m not. So, could you imagine what my life is like right now? It’s crazy! I ended up going into the studio. On the way to the studio, that first time, I didn’t want to go. I wanted to be in my bed, crying. And I did cry all the way down Santa Monica. ‘What am I doing? Why am I doing this?'”

"I’ve been writing stuff randomly, like, instead of going online and looking at stupid stuff, but being like, ‘I’m just going to write. This is how I’m going to heal. I need to write. I need to write.’"

And we're all glad she did. Have a listen to the whole interview below.
