Don't be conspicuous, don't be drunk and don't be sentimental; Hilarious tips for single women from 1938

In the words of the great Beyoncé, all the single ladies (all the single ladies), now put your hands up, as we've discovered some great advice on how to nab the ideal fellow.

All you need to do to get a man is follow these classic golden rules such as not drinking too much as “a man expects you to keep your dignity all evening. Drinking may make some girls seem clever, but most get silly”.

Well, that's according to Click Photo-Parade magazine whose tips for single women from 1938 are so amazingly hilarious, they're almost not offensive (almost).

Other gems include Don't sit in awkward positions - and never look bored, even if you are. Be alert, and if you must chew gum (not advised), do it silently, mouth closed”.

We don't know about you, but we'd NEVER be so bold as to masticate in front of a gentleman.

Women also shouldn't do the following, if they want to cease being single: be familiar with the head waiter, be too tactile with their companion, put their make-up on in the car mirror (man needs it in driving), or talk while dancing.

Basically, never do anything ever.

Take a look at more important rules for us silly women below.
