Hollywood Icons
A celebration of glamour, beauty and intrigue
Let's be honest; January is a gloomy, mildly depressing month. So if, like us, you're in need of an injection of glamour to brighten your weekend, then we prescribe staying in and watching Shooting The Hollywood Stars (8pm, BBC 2), which sees fashion and celebrity photographer Rankin recreating some of the world’s most iconic celebrity images.
From Chaplin to Garbo, Brando to Monroe, Rankin revisits legendary Hollywood images and looks at the vital role they play in our love affair with movie stars. Some famous faces pop up to offer their views along his journey, such as Terry O’Neill, Michael Sheen, Selma Blair, Leslie Mann and Matthew Rhys.
To get you in the mood for a healthy dose of glamour, we’ve delved into the archives to compile our own gallery of all-time Hollywood icons. Time to dig our the red lipstick? We think so.
