Wow. We knew our readers were creative but when we offered you the chance to design our Issue 100 cover, even we had no idea what a torrent of talent was about to hit the Stylist office.

Exactly 356 of you sent us your beautifully crafted designs, from a Stylist cake that tasted as good as it looked, to designs with watercolours, hand-stitching, paper mache and even full-on fashion shoots.

It was a tough call, but Stylist’s judging panel, including editor Lisa Smosarski, creative director Matt Phare and Stylist’s art team, whittled the 356 designs down to one – by Yasmeen Ismail, a 30-year-old animator/ illustrator (pictured with her cover, right).

Her 3D-scale model took two weeks to construct. “You could see the time and effort that went into making it,” said Clare Ferguson, Stylist’s art editor. All the tiny elements, from stacks of magazines to bunting, were painstakingly hand carved and glued, then photographed by a friend for the cover. “I was so happy when I found out I’d won,” Yasmeen told Stylist. “I never do anything halfheartedly, so I really wanted to win. Seeing it handed out at my Tube station will be quite an emotional day!”

Take a closer look at Yasmeen's winning cover design below, and see all of the entries into our cover design competition here...
