Gripping scenes from the new Ironman 3 film show Gwyneth Paltrow's Pepper Potts caught up in a powerful blaze, taken captive by a terrorist enemy and being romanced by hero Tony Stark.

"I have to protect the one thing I can't live without, and that's you," Stark tells his formidable assistant during the trailer.

He's battling to save the world from his most dangerous enemy yet, The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley), who poses this teaser to our hero: "I am going to offer a choice, do you want an empty life or a meaningful death?"

WATCH THE OFFICIAL UK TRAILER:

The film is due to hit UK cinemas on April 26.
