Janet Jackson reveals baby boy’s beautiful name

Janet Jackson and her husband, Wissam Al Mana, have welcomed their first child together.

The 50-year-old Grammy winner gave birth to a baby boy on 3 January, after a “stress-free” and “healthy” delivery.

Her representative told People magazine in a statement: “Janet Jackson and husband Wissam Al Mana are thrilled to welcome their new son Eissa Al Mana into the world. Janet had a stress-free healthy delivery and is resting comfortably.”

The name Eissa (pronounced eye-sa, according to Nameberry) is “the Arabic form of Jesus” – and can also be spelled Isa, Issa, and Esa.

Many fans and celebrities alike have taken to social media to congratulate Jackson on the birth of her first child – including a number of her extended family.

“Congrats Auntie @JanetJackson!!! So so happy for you & Wissam [sic],” TJ Jackson wrote online. “Enjoy every minute with your greatest hit, Elissa. #parenthoodisthebest.”

Asa Soltan Rahmati, who is expecting her first child with Jermaine Jackson Jr. later this month, also added, “Congratulations to Auntie Janet and her husband Wissam Al Mana and their new born son Eissa. Can't wait to meet him.”

Jackson has chosen to remain private about her pregnancy, although, on 6 April, she posted a video on Twitter announcing that was going to postpone her Unbreakable World tour because she was “planning a family” with her husband.

She said: “We're in the second leg of the tour and there actually has been a sudden change. I thought it was important that you be the first to know.

“My husband and I are planning our family, so I'm going to have to delay the tour.”

She continued: “Please, if you could try and understand that it's important that I do this now. I have to rest up, doctor's orders. But I have not forgotten about you. I will continue the tour as soon as I possibly can.”

Jackson also took to social media in late November to dispel rumours that she was finding her ‘advanced maternal age’ (a term used for anyone who becomes pregnant over the age of 35) difficult.

She shared at the time: “Hey you guys.. It's been awhile.. but I'm still listening.. I feel your love and prayers.. Thank you.. and I'm doing well [sic].”

Meanwhile Jackson’s older brother, Jermaine, has said that she will be a “great mother”.

Speaking before the birth, the Jackson 5 singer said: “My sister Janet is my baby. She is fine but she's having a baby. A baby having a baby. We look at her like our little baby and now she's grown and having a baby. I'm proud to be an uncle and I can't wait to see how this baby is going to look.”

He added: “She'll be a great mother because she is very tough, very strict. But I tell her, ‘If you need any parenting skills or baby skills, let me know because I'm the best diaper changer there is on this planet, still to this day.’”
