Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux often find themselves dogged by baseless split rumours in the press.

However the couple – who tied the knot in a secret ceremony in August 2015, after four years of dating – have learned to ignore the tabloids, with Aniston famously revealing that she refuses to subscribe to “distracting” social media, too.

In fact, it seems as if the pair are happier than ever.

And, speaking to Entertainment Tonight as he promoted his new film The Girl on the Train, Theroux revealed their simple formula for a successful marriage.

"We appreciate each other's sense of humour, we respect one another and we get along,” he said.

"I know it sounds simple - but it's true!"

His words echo those of Aniston, who previously said that married life with Theroux is so much fun.

Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, she said: “Married life is so normal and fun and not much different. We felt married for so long."

She added: “I'm lucky because Justin is the funniest person I've met, and we make each other laugh. Laughter is one of the great keys to staying youthful.”

And, much as the 47-year-old actress revealed she’s proud of her spouse for his career (“he’s on fire”, she said candidly), Theroux recently spoke out to heap praise upon his wife.

So much so that he’s admitted that he would love to reunite with her on the big screen again, after previously starring together in Wanderlust.

He told E! News: "I mean we would love to, of course. You know, it's that thing of I have been working for the last three years on the TV show which has prevented me from working on anything else.

"And it has to be the right thing and something the both of us want to do, you know. We'll see."

Justin Theroux stars opposite Emily Blunt in The Girl on the Train, which arrives in cinemas on 7 October.
