Kate Moss takes centre stage as Elvis Presley in new tribute

She’s an icon in her own right, but while the runway and front row are her typical domain (along with the odd street food van), Kate Moss is now stepping into the leathers of the King himself, for an Elvis Presley tribute.

No stranger to the rock and roll scene, Moss’ new gig sees her take the lead in a brand new music video (scroll down to watch it in full) for Presley’s re-released The Wonder of You.

Backed by the Philharmonic Orchestra, the supermodel dons Presley’s famous leather suit, while lip syncing over the lyrics of his 1970 hit.

Shot in moody black and white, the video was filmed at London’s legendary Abbey Road Studios, where Presley recorded his original version of the track and album of the same name.

Embracing the signer’s signature smoulder, not to mention the good old hip thrust, Moss is seen taking to the mic and lounging over a piano, while smizing her way through the remastered track.

The Moss/Presley collaboration comes on the back of last year’s hit album If I Can Dream: Elvis Presley With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, with the track being taken from producers Don Reedman and Nick Patrick’s new project, The Wonder of You: Elvis Presley with the Royal Philharmonic.

Much like the 2015 album, ‘Wonder’ again sees classic Presley songs, including Always On My Mind, Suspicious Minds and A Big Hunk O' Love, re-recorded with musical accompaniment from the revered orchestra.

Involved in the project as an executive producer, Priscilla Presley has explained how the album comes as a way of fulfilling a dream her former husband didn’t get to see through.

“Elvis always loved the great, operatic vocalists,” she says in a statement.

“We often talked about his interest in recording material that allowed him to perform in that space.”

“I believe we have made an album that is uplifting, sensitive, heart touching and fun — the way that Elvis was and still is to so many of us,” Reedman adds. “His spirit has never left the building!”

This isn’t the first time Moss has starred in a music video. She has previously made appearances for Massive Attack, Johnny Cash, Paul McCartney and The White Stripes, and has even delivered vocal performances on-stage with former boyfriend Pete Doherty, as well as on the chorus of Primal Scream's Some Velvet Morning.

Then there was time she was a backing dancer for Nick cave, of course.

But according to the supermodel, taking the lead in Presley’s new tribute may top the lot.

“I was so excited to be asked to be involved in this project,” she says. “Anything for Elvis…”
