It seemed - in the world according to Twitter - that Katy Perry and Russell Brand's marriage was over. But following a swift rebuttal from Perry, the couple put on a united front on the red carpet at the 'Change Begins Within' charity benefit in LA

Wearing her hair in a sleek blonde bob and sporting a Versace studded dress, Perry laughed and gazed into her husband's eyes so as to dispell any rumours. The couple were the guests of director David Lynch, of Mullholand Drive fame.

Their appearance follows a candid interview given by Brand on the Elle DeGeneres show earlier this week. The actor was quickly grilled on whether the rumours circulating on the internet about his marriage had any truth in them - to which Brand joked, "What? She should've told me [...] I've treated the whole internet now like it's a wicked little liar."

Perry and Brand first met at the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2009. Following a whirlwind romance, the pair announced they were engaged the following January and were married in a lavish ceremony in India in October 2010. The couple have been married now for just over a year.
