Keira Knightley gets mistaken for Britney Spears

She's one of the world's most well known faces, but Keira Knightley revealed on the Graham Norton Show on Friday that she's sometimes mistaken for other A-list celebrities, including Britney Spears and Natalie Portman.

She told Graham that people think she's Natalie Portman fairly often "and I get chased through airports."

Keira played Natalie's handmaiden, and a decoy for her character Queen Amidala, in Star Wars Episode I when both ladies were younger, so perhaps it's understandable to confuse them.

But Natalie's fans are clearly a lot more vocal than Keira's. She continued, "I feel quite sorry for her because she must get chased a lot because it's happened like five times where someone's been like 'NATALIE, NATALIE, NATALIE.'"

"But the one that's surprising is Britney Spears. I get quite excited because I quite like the idea that I could [dance] like that, which I can't do. So I've been Britney Spears like three times."

She also revealed that she signs autographs as both Britney and Natalie Portman. "[I'll] definitely sign, and have a picture. And I'll sign and take a picture as Natalie."

We're going to put Keira actually signing autographs as another person down to a case of Very British Problems. Brits are known for being too polite to complain at restaurants, or tell their hairdresser that they hate that new fringe they've put in, but posing as a different celebrity to make a fan not feel awkward is an entirely new one.

But that's not all. "I get Kate Winslet as well."

So why on earth do people get Keira confused with other celebrities so much? Perhaps her striking good looks leave fans so star struck they call out the first celebrity name that comes to mind...

Keira, appearing alongside Samuel L Jackson on the Friday night show, also revealed more about her role in new film Begin Again, where her is a guitar-playing songwriter. She asked her musician husband Jamie Righton for help, but "it nearly ended in divorce."

Even Klaxons keyboardist Jamie couldn't help her musical talents, which she admits are limited. "'I like singing if I’m in my own in the shower or if I am really drunk, but I’m not a big fan of singing in front of people, which I didn’t realise until I said yes to the movie and found myself singing in front of rather a lot of people."

So watch out next time you're about to ask 'Britney' for a rendition of Baby One More Time...
