Kylie Minogue has confirmed that she and fiancé Joshua Sasse have called off their engagement – and she did it with all the grace, class, and positivity that we’ve come to expect from the Spinning Around singer.

Addressing her message to all the “lovers” of the world, the 48 year old thanked fans for their support as she confirmed that she and Sasse have now gone their separate ways.

“Thank you for all your love and support during this recent chapter of my life,” she wrote.

“Thank you now for your love and understanding with the news that Josh and I have decided to go our separate ways.”

She added: “We wish only the best for each other as we venture forwards towards new horizons.”

Sharing a photograph of a dawning sun, Minogue added: “The sun always rises.”

However when one door closes, another one opens; earlier today, Minogue confirmed that she has signed a new recording deal with BMG.

And the Australian singer is more than ready to embrace the next phase of her career.

“So happy to announce my new record label is BMG. I promise you will have my heart and soul in this next record,” she wrote in a post on Instagram.

“Great to meet the new team at BMG,” she said in another.

According to Billboard, the BMG deal represents “the dawn of a new era for Kylie”; her last 12 albums were released in the UK through Parlophone, dating back to her 2000s comeback record, Light Years.

Minogue has been in the charts ever since she released the 1988 cover of The Locomotion, which debuted at number three in the UK – and has sold a whopping 65 million albums throughout her career.

She took a brief hiatus in 2005, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer; the pop star was forced to undergo radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and a partial mastectomy during her battle with the disease – and, in February 2006, she was given the all-clear.

However her cancer battle still impacts her even now – and, in a recent interview with Sunday Times Magazine, she implored people to stop asking her when she will be having children.

She explained: “When cancer strikes, you really have to consider all of that.”

Minogue went on to add that plenty of people have advised her that, in spite of all the fertility issues caused by chemotherapy and her more mature age, she has ‘options’. However, while she doesn’t doubt that they have good intentions, it’s still incredibly upsetting to have to discuss it.

“Trust me, there's a point when the next person who says, 'Well, there are so many options', you want to scream,” she said.

“Of course, it's great there are options. It's marvellous! But when you're dealing with all the other stuff and things that you took for granted are taken away from you, it's like, yes there are options, but…”

Great to meet the new team at BMG!! 🎤☑️

The singer didn’t have to finish; her meaning was absolutely implicit – it’s misogynist to suggest that a woman’s primary goal in life is to breed.
