Filming on Love Actually 2 is well underway – and now it’s been revealed that fans can actually get involved with the sequel’s reprisal of the original film’s most iconic scene.

For better or for worse, the hit 2003 rom-com is best known for that moment when Andrew Lincoln visits Keira Knightley at home on Christmas Eve. Despite the fact she’s married to his best friend, the art gallery owner convinces her to lie to her hubby so that they can have a few moments alone together – and, using a series of handwritten cards, he lets her know how he really feels about her.
Spoiler alert: he’s
head-over-heels in love obsessed with her
At the time, Lincoln promised us all that he was done with filming sneaky videos of Knightley. “Enough,” he said, zipping up his coat and walking away from her home. “Enough now.”
Or so we thought, anyway. But what if he actually said ‘enough for now’?
It’s since been revealed that the actors are scheduled to film some new scenes together for the special 10-minute sequel – and Chiwetel Ejiofar, who played Knightley’s husband in the film, isn’t joining them for the comeback.
Does this mean that Mark (Lincoln) and Juliet (Knightley) are going to get together, almost two decades after he promised that his wasted heart would love her until she looks like a mummified corpse? Or has he simply failed to make good on his promise to leave her alone? Maybe Juliet’s rocked up with a restraining order and a few cards of her own…
If you can’t wait until Red Nose Day to find out, don’t despair; the Love Actually team and Comic Relief are offering you (and a friend) the chance to crash the set as they film those all-important scenes.
Not only will you get to hang about and watch the magic happen, but you’ll also get a meet-and-greet with the stars, a keepsake photograph of that special moment, a signed copy of the script, and a hug from director Richard Curtis (if that’s, you know, your thing).
All it takes to be in with a shot of winning is…
- A fundraising idea
- A Red Nose Day Giving Page
- A tweet to Emma Freud

Compulsory bacon sandwiches, you say? We’re in.
Knightley and Lincoln aren’t the only stars on board for the 10-minute special; they will be joined by Martine McCutcheon, Hugh Grant, Bill Nighy, Liam Neeson, Colin Firth, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Lucia Moniz, Olivia Olson, Marcus Brigstocke, and Rowan.
Speaking about the mini-reunion, Curtis said: “I would never have dreamt of writing a sequel to Love Actually, but I thought it might be fun to do 10 minutes to see what everyone is now up to. Who has aged best? I guess that’s the big question… or is it so obviously Liam?
“We’ve been delighted and grateful that so many of the cast are around and able to take part – and it’ll certainly be a nostalgic moment getting back together and recreating their characters 14 years later.”
The 10-minute Love Actually 2 movie will air during BBC One’s live Red Nose Day in aid of Comic Relief on 24 March.
