Mariah Carey on losing 70lbs after twins

Mariah Carey appeared on The Rosie O'Connell Show unveiling her svelte post baby figure - a result of losing 70lbs.

Adorned in a fitted leather jacket and a mini skirt, the singer Mariah Carey explained on US chat show, The Rosie Show' how she achieved her astonishing weight loss just 6 months after giving birth to Moroccan and Monroe Cannon, her twins with fellow singer - and presenter- Nick Cannon.

"In the beginning, when I first had the babies, I had so much edema … water and swelling. Most pregnant woman have that just in their feet... One day I was doing my thank-you notes and I noticed it started rising up the leg … I didn't think I would ever be the same person."

The singer embarked on the Jenny diet plan (formerly Jenny Craig), for which she now serves as a spokeswoman, to rid her body of the excess water she was carrying due to the complications of 'a really tough' pregnancy. She lost 40lbs of 'just water' in the first week. The 30lbs came later with an exercise program that included walking her dogs and working out in the ocean.

Despite the amazing reaction to Carey's new shape, the singer claims it is not all about aesthetics. Referring to how carrying so much extra weight during her pregnancy made otherwise mundane chores difficult, she says' ' It's really (about) health'... I learned this when I became helpless and felt so vulnerable like never before in my life."
