Donna Summer has died from cancer at the age of 63.

The five-time Grammy winner passed away in Florida this morning (17 May), according to TMZ and sources close to the singer. A family statement later confirmed the death.

Born LaDonna Adrian Gaines and later known as the Queen of Disco, the singer shot to fame in the 1970s as a backing singer for Three Dog Night. She released her first solo album in 1974, and enjoyed a prolific career that saw her put out an LP every year until 1984. Her first hit, Love to Love You Baby, reached the No 2 spot on the Billboard charts in 1976, and she went on to release a string of hits such as Hot Stuff and Bad Girls. She also became a style icon during the period for her striking stage outfits.

In honour of a disco legend, here are some of Donna’s best tracks.
