A new Channel 4 documentary offers insight into the lives of three female trailblazers in war-torn Afghanistan.

Afghan Army Girls tells the story of a group of tenacious young Afghan women who breaking down gender barriers and defying cultural norms by signing up to the National Army.

All three recruits face stigma and shame for joining up but they are determined to better themselves while still maintaining strict traditions of their country.

The documentary is the brainchild of filmmaker Lalage Snow, who spent six months in the female barracks in Kabul to track the women's progress.

Take a look at our exclusive preview below and stay tuned for the documentary in full this Saturday 15 June on More4.
