Meet Sweden's Leonardo Dicaprio doppleganger taking Instagram by storm

leo.jpg

From the glory days of Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet to the working-class hero heartthrob that was Jack Dawson in Titanic, Leonardo Dicaprio was every girls’ dream in the nineties and, as we’ve grown up, we’ve reserved a special place for him in our hearts.

As with a good cheese or wine, all the best things in life get better with age, and Leo has proved this, blowing minds with his acting prowess in greats such as Shutter Island, The Great Gatsby and The Wolf of Wall Street. His talents continue to flourish.

But for those of us who grew up with the Hollywood pin-up, we remain a little nostalgic for the days when Leo was still sporting that Boyzone-style sandy mop.

Which is why we're thrilled to learn that there’s a nineties Leo lookalike living in Sweden, and the resemblance is uncanny.

Konrad Annerud is a 21-year-old bartender and musician who has amassed a whopping 30,000 followers on Instagram thanks to his flawless personal style, music and (we suspect) his likeness to the Titanic dreamboat.

Annerud’s dopplegänger status is so unique that he’s even been interviewed by local journalists.

In one, for nyheter24.se, Annerud says:

“I get to hear that I look like him quite often, especially since I work as a bartender in a nightclub.”

Although, at times, the bartender and musician says it can become rather infuriating, as people call him Leo:

“It can be quite annoying sometimes when people call me 'Leo' instead of my real name,” he says.

And things can get pretty manic when he’s travelling. Recalling a trip to Italy this summer, he says:

“I almost felt like shaving my hair off. It was very chaotic; people were yelling 'Leo' and wanted to take photos with me all the time. It was one of the craziest things I’ve ever experienced.”

But the 21-year-old admits there is an upside to all the attention:

“It’s fun to look like him, I mean, he’s handsome,” he says.

We're sure you'll agree, it’s Annerud it the spitting image of Jack Dawson.

We are thoroughly enjoying stalking his Instagram into the wee hours and dreaming that the younger versions of ourselves could meet him and run away to fair Verona together. Oh that we were a glove upon that hand, that we might touch that cheek…
