Meet the special guest editor of Stylist’s 5th birthday edition

SHOT_01_0178.jpg

Next week we will be celebrating a big birthday here at Stylist.

On Tuesday 7 October Stylist turns five (we know, we don’t look a day over two) and, in honour of the occasion, we decided to hand the reins over to a VVIP to take on duties as guest editor of Stylist for the week.

But who is she, we hear you ask?

Here at Stylist we find little makes us happier than watching talented young women have their brilliance recognised by the world.

And our guest editor is a perfect case in point.

At just 24 she wrote her first film, at 26 her multi award-winning TV show – of which she is director and lead – hit the screens and now, at 28, she can add author of epic advice book to that list of achievements.

Lena Dunham cover

Yes, the one and only Lena Dunham kindly agreed to take on editing duties next week – taking charge of every element of the magazine, from picking the Style List to enlisting a cast of her favourite girls of Instagram to be the stars of the fashion shoot.

“I love the magazine,” says Dunham of Stylist. “I love that it speaks to women in their lives as they currently exist; I love the women Stylist chooses to profile and I love the progressive feel of it.

Editing Stylist has been an amazing opportunity; it’s been so fun. I’ve definitely had moments where I’m like, ‘This is my magazine? We have got to get this perfect! I’m not putting my magazine out with bulls**t in it!’ It’s been a joy.”

You can get your hands on the issue on Tuesday afternoon or subscribe to our tablet edition now to have it delivered straight to you as soon as it is out.

Take a look at the exclusive video below to see the lovely Lena announce her week at the helm in her inimitable style.
