Meryl Streep is transformed into food in this weird and wonderful Instagram feed

meryl.JPG

She's certainly no stranger to transforming herself into different characters: throughout her 45 year career, we've seen Meryl Streep portray everyone from a nun to a fashion editor to the formidable Margaret Thatcher.

But, in what could be her greatest role yet, a weird and wonderful Instagram account is blending photographs of the actress with images of our favourite foods, from a classic slice of avocado on toast to a sugary pink doughnut.

Appropriately, the account goes by the name 'Taste of Streep', and is run by an anonymous user.

The account has posted 59 of the brilliantly bizarre images over the last seven weeks, and has quickly amassed a dedicated following of 34,000 users (at the time of writing).

The seamless blending of Streep with the food products, which also include a piece of sushi, a cracked egg and a tub of frozen yoghurt, shows the designer behind the feed to be a dab hand at Photoshop.

Pasted on bright and vivid backgrounds, the images are certainly eye-catching.

One image shows the 66-year-old actress in the gold Christian Leigh gown she wore to the Oscars back in 1983, superimposed with a handful of churros.

Another picture shows the actress, who has received more Academy Award nominations than any other actor in history, kitted out in a pale pink suit and tangoing with a giant ham.

A special mention is also needed for this image of Streep in the famed Lanvin dress she wore to the 2012 Oscars, cuddling up to a corn dog.
