Michelle Obama has some tried-and-tested advice for you and your girlfriends

If there’s one woman we’re very happy to take advice from, it’s former First Lady Michelle Obama. So, when we spotted her rousing cry for women everywhere to come together and set up their own BFF bootcamp, we were all ears.

Taking to Instagram, everyone’s favourite “girl of the South Side” revealed that she, like so many of us, absolutely cherishes the wonderful relationships she shares with her female friends.

And, over the years, she and her “crew” have always made a point of hanging out in the summer and working out together in the great outdoors.

“When I was at the White House, I often hosted bootcamp weekends for my close girlfriends,” she said.

“It didn’t matter that we were all at varying fitness levels. Our bootcamp weekends were a reminder that if we want to keep taking care of others, we need to take care of ourselves first.”

Obama went on to explain that, even though she’s moved out of the White House to make room for President Trump and co, she still makes a point of still hosting when she can.

“Even though I’m no longer at the White House, I've continued this tradition and wanted to share some photos,” she said, attaching a gallery of workout images.

“My girlfriends have been there for me through all kinds of life transitions over the years – including a pretty big one recently! – and we’ve done our best to stay healthy together.”

Obama finished with a rousing cry to the masses: “Whether it’s a bootcamp or a walk around the neighbourhood, I hope you and your crew can find some time this summer to be healthy together.”

It’s not the first time that Obama has dished out some advice on friendship: remember when she famously advised us all to ensure that we have, at all times, three important friends in our life?

“We should always have three friends in our lives,” she said firmly. “One who walks ahead who we look up to and follow; one who walks beside us, who is with us every step of our journey; and then, one who we reach back for and bring along after we've cleared the way.

“That last friend represents our need to mentor, to lend our experience and our wisdom in the hopes that it will give someone after us the strength to reach a little higher and dream a little bigger.”

Yup, it’s official: we miss her even more. Anyone else wishing she was back in the White House?
