Naomie Harris is the new Bond Girl

Naomie Harris will play a field agent called Eve in the upcoming 23rd Bond film, Skyfall.

At a press conference this morning where, we have to say, very little else was given away, Londonder Naomie was joined by Bond himself; Daniel Craig, Dame Judi Dench (M), ‘the villain’ Javier Bardem and French TV actress Berenice Marlohe, who will also play a love interest.

“I’ve been practicing yoga every day to get in shape,” said Naomie, 35. “And training for weeks on how to shoot a machine gun, which I discovered I have quite a taste for. Also, how to run up lots of stairs quickly.”

We guess it’s difficult to give good answers when you have director, Sam Mendes, reminding everyone how top secret everything is every few seconds.

The only thing Craig would (jokingly) reveal is that he spends most of the script with his shirt off. “That’s the gig,” he laughed.

Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney, and The Hour actor Ben Whishaw were also named as cast members in the film that comes out on October 26th, 2012, nearly 50 years to the day after the release of the first Bond film, Dr No.

2012 is bound to be a big year for the secret agent - so get ready for a lot of Martinis...

Skyfall will be released in the UK on 26 October 2012
