'It's our time to have wage equality once and for all' Patricia Arquette gives impassioned speech

Patricia Arquette used her Oscars acceptance speech to make a passionate plea for equal rights for women.

The actress - who won an academy award for her part in Richard Linklater's Boyhood - began by thanking friends, colleagues and her family before giving a short but rousing speech on the fight for equal rights for women.

Patricia called on the citizens of America to come together to fight for women's rights, saying 'To every woman who gave birth, to every taxpayer and citizen of this nation...we have fought for everybody else's equal rights, it's our time to have wage equality once and for all and equal rights for women in the United States of America.' Stars such as Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lopez whooped and cheered as the actress spoke.
