Grab a first look at The Railway Man, a harrowing new drama starring Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth.

Based on the memoirs of a former prisoner of war, the film follows the plight of Eric Lomax (Firth) as he struggles to come to terms with his traumatic past of forced labour on the Burma railway during World War II.

Years later, Patti Lomax, his wife (Kidman) - a woman he meets and falls in love with on a train - helps him to confront the torture and deprivation he suffered as a prisoner under the Japanese, in a bid to find forgiveness and closure.

Take a look at our exclusive clip from the critically acclaimed biopic, below.

The Railway Man hits cinemas this Friday 10 January
