The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge released a brand new family portrait with Prince George and pet Lupo this weekend, ahead of their Australia and and New Zealand tour.

The stunning photograph is the first portrait of couple's 8-month-old baby since his christening in October 2013.

The latest image, which was actually taken in mid-March, shows the family perched in a window at their home Apartment 1A in Kensington Palace.

While the Duke, 31 and the Duchess, 32, look into the camera, the young Prince smiles at the family’s pet spaniel, Lupo.

The moment was captured by celebrity photographer Jason Bell, who is no stranger to snapping pictures for the royals. Bell was the photographer of choice at Prince George's christening on 23 October 2013 where he took four official portraits of the family and immediate relatives.

Kate Middleton, who celebrated her first Mother's Day on Sunday, opted for a cream frilled blouse for the portrait while Prince William wore a light blue shirt. The young Prince, however, had the best outfit with a white shirt and custom-made baby blue cashmere sweater, which featured his name stamped across the front.

Expect to see plenty more images of the family on their three-week trip to Australia and New Zealand, which will be the first ever public tour for Prince George. He is the first child of the Duke and Duchess and was born on 22 July 2013 at St Mary's Hospital in London.

Prince George is beginning to have an uncanny resemblance to his father, with the same blonde hair and full cheeks as Prince William did as a toddler.
